Sargent Tucker’s (ST)(aka Johnnie)was born in New Orleans and inherited that large musical arsenal. This musical trait is more evident in his latest single titled, “One Thing Leads To Another,” where it’s clearly demonstrated. The track shows ST’s versatility, unique artistry and the depths of his musical repertoire. “One Thing Leads To Another” is about the complexities of relationships, and how innocent conversation, words, a smile, or a tender touch can create unimaginable expectations. ST illustrates how attraction can be a phase or period of time where it’s developed, and not the love at first sight fairy tale examples depicted in movies. Just being kind with the absence of any romantic agenda can often be an attractive feature. Especially, to a neglected person desiring a little attention.
“One Thing Leads To Another” is an example of an unintended situation starting from a simple heartfelt hello. Today, genially asking how one’s doing, and hoping they're feeling fine is rare. A smile is still free to give, but when accompanied with tender treatment unintended consequences may arise. An individual’s thoughts can’t be seen, felt, or heard, therefore, we use our eyes, and senses like sound, tone, and the touch as communication. However, eye contact and body language are hard to conceal, and can be highly revealing. Furthermore, if you’re not looking or seeking a relations but continue communicating with a person who, unknowingly is looking; things can get uncomfortable. Particularly, when those involved notice that their feelings are mutually drifting towards one another and the situation becomes or progresses into more than small talk and friendly conversation.
Sargent Tucker describes, “this track contains elements of my Jazz and Funk Roots”. I can attest that this music is sophisticated modern funk. However, with horns added to that arrangement, ST again illustrates how serious he takes his craft. A high note for ST was being part of the happiness movement. His song “I AM Happy” was selected as the theme song for the I Am Happy Project, which resulted in ST being the featured performer at Hollywood’s Global Happiness Day. Honorees included Will Smith, Ellen Degeneres, Goldie Hawn, and Robbie Williams. ST also wrote “Stop Telling Me”, while recording with his band “Two Things In One”, which was featured on the Ace Records 2011 Grammy Nominated “Music City Story” Compilation CD/Album liner notes. Subsequently, Sargent Tucker, along with his former group TTIO, was inducted into the Bay Area Blues Society’s 2013 “West Coast Blues Hall of Fame”. “Come See Me”, written by ST while signed to Macola Records was featured on the “SUN SET STRIP” Compilation Album with Hip Hop Pioneers: N.W.A (Ice Cube) and Dr. Dre’s “World Class Wreckin’ Cru.” Shortly afterwards, ST attracted the attention of legendary producer Kevin Beamish who produced ST while in Los Angeles.
Sargent Tucker, continues his musical partnership with Grammy Nominated Producer Levi Seacer, former Music Director of the late PRINCE, who again oversees production. Following his most recent released single titled , “It’s All Good,” again making the UK Charts, June 2021. Since, 2016, Charting (#1), most of ST’s singles have reached the top #10, with a couple in the top #20. Sargent Tucker’s recently scheduled tours have been postponed due to COVID. However, ST has created more opportunities for his future by continuously writing, arranging, and recording new material. These recent effort have increased his musical catalog of original masters for future full length Albums. In addition, ST is ready and eager to hit the stage when the COVID spread is stabilized and/or resolved .
